Passing parameters to Power View reports in SharePoint to force filter condition

Here is an interesting article on how to pass a filter condition to a Power View report in SharePoint. One of the biggest complaints that I get as I demo Power View in SharePoint is its inability to save custom preferences for different user groups. In other words, if I have a dashboard built with geography as one of the dimensions, users in different countries may potentially want to default their view to their region.

Using the technique described in the aforementioned post, we can have a dynamic link that checks users geography and formats the parameter accordingly so that the dashboard is tailored to the individual user’s location.
