Microsoft makes big announcements at SQL PASS

I will have a more detailed write-up of everything later but still wanted to give a quick summary of the new announcements:

Updateable Column store – Project Hekaton will be released in the next major release of SQL Server and will allow us create updateable clustered column store indexes. This is huge, 20-50 performance increases without any changes to the existing hardware and/or applications
SQL Server SP1 is released – primary focus is to support the new BI features in Office 2013 and SharePoint 2013
The new version of PDW will be released in H1 of 2013 with support for Hadoop and updateable column store, read whatever you will in that date…
PowerView was shown to support OLAP cubes… More details on that will be released tomorrow
